Infection Control Specialists
Our Sterilization Area is state-of-the-art and fully staffed by trained Infection Control Specialists...
Hi, I'm Eliza!
Let me tell you a little about myself and why what I do here is so important...
At Billings Bridge Dental Centre, your safety has always been a priority for us. In recent years, infection control regulations have been improved across the board for all medical and dental facilities. We decided to take a leadership role by upgrading our Sterilization Area to the newest and most efficient technology available.
My colleagues and I staff our Sterilization Area every hour that our centre is open so that our hygienists, dentists and their assistance can spend more time caring for you, while they trust us to care for their valuable instruments. I'm a stickler for detail!
I previously pursued a career as an esthetician. I'm bilingual. And I love to laugh! (You'll probably hear me when you're sitting quietly at your next hygiene appointment.)
Outside of work, I have a young daughter. She brings me joy every day.
I first came to Billings Bridge Dental Centre as a co-op student, and trained as an Infection Control Specialist. The dental profession has me hooked!
As soon as I could, I registered for the Dental Hygiene program at Algonquin College. It's a demanding 3-year program including academic studies and hands-on practical training. I look forward to applying my new skills as soon as I graduate -- hopefully here!
People count on me to get stuff done!
Before arriving in Ottawa and beginning a new career in the dental profession, I worked with horses, in food services, and in logistics at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston.
I feel like infection control is the heart of a dental practice. We work behind the scenes to keep everybody safe and productive.
You know something else that's really important? Regular hygiene appointments. Seeing your favourite hygienist on a regular basis is what keeps you healthy, and reduces the need for longer appointments with a dentist. So I have another job as well: Whether by email, text, or telephone, I'll do everything I can to make sure you keep the commitment you made to yourself when you scheduled your appointment.
My husband and I have a new dog. He's kind of lazy (the dog).
I'm a graduate of Algonquin College's Medical Device Reprocessing program. That means I have extensive training in cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, preparing, and distributing medical instruments and equipment.
Prior to my technical training and joining the Infection Control Team at Billings Bridge Dental Centre, I worked in a variety of customer service positions, and volunteered as a trainer in cross-cultural conflict resolution.
I have all kinds of interests -- some entrepreneurial, some technical.
People say I have a beautiful smile. I don't know how they know this, because I wear a mask all day for my work in the Sterilization Area!
