Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept direct billing?
At the end of each appointment, we will present a statement of the services we have provided and the amount you owe for these services. Payment is due when services are rendered.
For your convenience we offer the following payment options: cash, Interac, VISA and MasterCard. We will help you electronically file your insurance claim or provide you with a generic dental insurance claim form that you can submit to your private insurer or employer.
Please note that we have no agreements on fees with insurance companies. Our agreements to do with fees are with you. If you have questions about what an insurance company covers, please ask us when we are planning your treatment. We will be pleased to help you answer your questions.
Concerning fees, please note that we recommend only the treatment you need. In the long run, we believe this is the most cost-effective approach to your dental care.
Please note also that dental insurance often sets an annual upper limit on the amount of treatment it will pay for. In many cases, there is a deductible, an amount you pay toward treatment, and in most cases dental insurance will pay a high percentage but not all of the cost of a treatment. Dental insurance may not cover all treatments, even those that are needed.
If you have questions about the cost of your dental treatment or any concerns about how affordable it is, we urge you to bring them forward when we discuss your treatment plan.
Do you have a price list?
At Associated Dental Care, we follow the Ontario Dental Association’s ODA Suggested Fee Guide for General Practitioners.
How much does a (name a Dental procedure) cost?
We do not estimate the cost of a procedure without seeing the patient, reviewing the patient’s history and exploring the signs and symptoms of the problem. Only by taking these and related steps can we determine if our services are required and, if so, how much work will be required to properly address a problem.
Do any of your Dentists speak French?
If you prefer a Dentist who speaks French, we will recommend Dr. Macnutt, Dr. Ivanita or Dr. Azzi.
Are your Dentists good with children?
Our Dentists have many years of experience helping children feel comfortable during treatment. We listen and we take pride in the gentle treatment we provide. In addition, we can call on several treatment options to relax a child, so that addressing even a difficult problem can proceed smoothly. And for situations that require specialized expertise, we can provide a referral to Dentists whose practices specialize in the care of children.
Do your Dentists have very much experience?
We are proud to provide, for your review, the qualifications of our Dentists and Dental Hygienists. Our Dentists and Dental Hygienists have many years of experience and education.
Will it (name a Dental procedure) hurt?
Injury and decay can leave teeth and gums sore. The first step to relieving pain often involves the use of today’s pain relievers and pain management strategies. And most people find complete relief from discomfort when we use our standard medicines to freeze mouth surfaces and then the underlying tissues, including the roots of teeth.
But there are patients who have special requirements. We approach sensitivities, including anxiety, by discussing ways to get pain relief that have worked in the past. We may also suggest a range of extra steps, from the use of nitrous oxide to complete sedation.
Our Clinic takes a conservative approach to pain management. That is, we will begin by proposing an adequate pain management technique, such as simple freezing. We will then discuss more complex procedures. We will settle for the first acceptable alternative, considering its risks and benefits.
